Alloy Steel contains a high percentage of chromium from less than 10% to more than 25%. There are 3 groups:

  • AUSTENITIC – (Non-Magnetic in the annealed condition) contains 16% Chromium and 7% Nickel. These include types 301, 302, 304 and 316.
  • FERRITIC – (Magnetic) which contains Chromium only and cannot be hardened by heat treatment. The group includes 430.
  • MARTENSITIC – (Magnetic) which contains Chromium and can be hardened by heat-treatment. These include 410 and 420.

NOTES: Other alloys and tempers may be available upon inquiry.

Why Manufacturers Trust Stainless Steel

  • Exceptional corrosion resistance in environments exposed to moisture, chemicals, or high humidity.
  • Strength and toughness across a wide range of service conditions.
  • Cleanability and hygiene, critical for medical devices, restaurant equipment, and food service.
  • High-temperature performance for heat-exposed components in aerospace and industrial equipment.
  • Attractive finishes (brushed, polished, or mirror) for architectural and consumer-facing uses.
  • Formability and weldability across multiple grades and tempers.
  • Finish control with common stainless finishes (e.g., 1BA, 2B, BA), supporting both sanitary and aesthetic requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which grades, tempers, and finishes do you support?

We process 300-series, 400-series in tempers from annealed through Full Hard, with finishes such as 1BA, 2B, and 2BA.

Do you offer narrow-width slitting and edge conditioning for stainless steel?

Yes. We provide tight-tolerance narrow-width slitting along with deburred, round, or square edges to ensure clean forming, reduced galling, and improved fabrication efficiency.

What are your flatness and camber tolerances for stainless strip?

Our processing meets industry standards for stainless strip flatness and camber. If your application requires tighter tolerances, simply share your print or specification for review.

What coil IDs, ODs, and packaging options do you offer?

We support standard coil IDs and large ODs, with options such as oscillate winding and interleaving film to reduce press changeovers and protect surface finishes during handling and transit.

What documentation and compliance certifications are included with each shipment?

Every order ships with full mill test reports (MTRs) and ISO documentation. Domestic melt, DFARS, and Buy America sourcing are available upon request.

What are your minimum order quantities, and do you offer stocking or JIT programs?

Typical minimums begin around 25 lb per size. We also offer stocking and just-in-time (JIT) release scheduling for recurring production requirements.

How are alloy surcharges handled?

Alloy surcharges are quoted at order entry and reflect current published market surcharge bulletins.
